Although described as 'Signor Manasse' and presumably of Italian origin, little is known of Manasse or his career except that he lived in London circa 1940-41. His bust of the Manchester Jewish writer Louis Golding was purchased by the Ben Uri Museum in late 1939, and he exhibited one work at the Royal Academy in 1940 and another at the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts in 1941.
